Like a fungus gnat, our family is small in size but large in adventures and stories.
Yep, looks like my cousin. (Click picture to see more.)
What is Apemon manteri?
This species of fungus gnat was discovered in 1930 near the Willimantic River. Charles W. Johnson, who published the discovery, named the species in honor of Jerauld Armington Manter, who was with him when the species was collected.
I consider myself quite honored as I heard this "pumping up the jam" and "bringing the awesome"... a voicemail was left on my cell phone of this strange musical phenomenon... followed by a "woot woot"... :)
I suppose what it IS... is you know, you're driving along, listening to the radio (music, not NPR)and you hear a really GREAT up-beat song that automatically makes you turn up the volume, sing along out loud because you know every word, and you're just like... yeeeaaaahhhh. That would be my best description of "pumping up the jam" and "bringing the awesome".
Um, golly Jerry R., what are you doing? Pumping jam? Bringing the awesome?
